Samsung’s next generation of Z Series phones is releasing soon, and the company is teasing the features they’ll have. Today’s announcement is about the camera. According to Samsung, the Z Series camera system will have more built-in AI that “turns what users see into understanding and action.”

What that means, though, was not specifically spelled out. It could be a new OCR-style text interface that reads documents and summarizes them, or it could be something entirely new that can provide information about the world around you, or just the subject of your photos. Information displayed will likely come from a combination of publicly available information and your own personal data, stored on your device. If that’s the case, the big question then becomes, how safe are these new camera features? Guess we’ll have to wait for the launch to find out.
