The big news from Max this month is that it’s changing its name back to HBO Max this summer, but everything else is staying the same. The streamer delivers a wide variety of movies and shows, and June is a packed month with box-office hits, animation, documentaries, and more. Oh, and The Minecraft Movie arrives this month. Maybe you’ve heard of it. Here are our picks for the best new movies and shows arriving on the streaming service in June 2025.

The Mortician (June 1)

Starting the month off, we have a new three-episode documentary series that’ll hit for Six Feet Under fans. The Mortician tells the shocking tale of the Lamb Funeral Home in Pasadena, California. When a young family member takes over the business, ethics go out the window as corpses are defiled, organs are sold, gold teeth are pulled, and people are maybe even murdered.

Cleaner (June 13)

Casino Royale director Martin Campbell helms Cleaner, a new action flick starring Daisy Ridley as a soldier turned high-rise window washer who finds herself the only person who can disarm a hostage situation at an energy company, only to discover that her co-worker is part of the plot and the situation is a lot more complex than it seems. If you’re a Die Hard fan, that’s the best comparison, as the action traverses unusual environments inside and outside the building.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie (June 27)

The journey of The Day the Earth Blew Up is a dire illustration of today’s media landscape. Produced by Warner Brothers as the first fully animated and theatrically released Looney Tunes movie ever, it was originally supposed to premiere on Max before being inexplicably shelved, picked up by third-party distributor Ketchup for theaters, and then made its way back to Max, confusing everybody. Nevertheless, it’s a fun and visually zany flick where Daffy Duck and Porky Pig have to save the world from a nefarious alien plot involving zombie-creating chewing gum.
