Watching the news can make you pretty nervous about the world we live in. We’re not endorsing any particular viewpoint, but we can all come together on wanting to feel safe, and tech is a good way to do that. A wide variety of smart cameras feature motion sensing, night vision, object and human detection, and more. Those cameras come in indoor and outdoor models, can be built into doorbells and other devices, and integrate with wireless locks and motion sensors to deliver alerts to your phone or other device and trigger sirens and silent alarms. No matter what your home security needs are, there’s tech that’ll handle them. Here are the best smart security deals from top brands in June.

Many security systems have optional subscription plans that allow you to store and access the videos your cameras record from anywhere for a monthly fee. Others require a separate hub unit to control the cameras and contain local storage. Both types typically allow you to access your video feeds in real time via your phone, computer, or smart display. We also recommend cameras that allow for two-way audio interaction with whoever’s on the other side of the lens, and having a spotlight function for night vision is a nice option as well. The main choice you’ll need to make with your smart doorbell is whether or not you need a wired or wireless option; from there, camera specifications and additional features will vary. 

Security Camera Deals

Right now, Amazon has a deal where you can get a pair of durable and high-quality Arlo cameras for 53% off. The Arlo Essential is an indoor/outdoor security system that we reviewed in 2020, praising its high-quality color night vision thanks to the included LED spotlight, simple installation, easy integration with smart home networks, and ample battery life. With sharp 2K video and a 130 degree field of view, it’s a great pick for lots of different environments. The Arlo Secure app lets you get notifications, manually engage the siren, use two-way audio and more.

While the TP-Link Tapo C100 doesn’t have as many of the high-end features as more expensive options, but it does everything you’ll need it to. Motion detection can send push notifications instantly to your phone, two-way audio and a built-in siren lets you communicate or scare away prowling animals, and it’s compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. In PCMag’s 2022 review, we rated it “Good” and praised its local and cloud storage options.

For a few more bucks, Eufy gives you more features and flexibility for your home security setup. They’re rechargeable, for one, and between the full field of view, infrared night vision, and 1080p resolution, the footage you get is pretty detailed. They also deliver smart notifications like motion alerts that can tell the difference between the neighborhood cat and a delivery driver arriving at your doorstep (and with two-way audio, you can interact with them as well). This package also includes a home hub for months of video storage with no monthly fee.

Amazon’s Ring line makes solid and dirt-cheap networked cameras that are simple to set up and easy to use, making them great for interior coverage when you don’t need fancy features. Right now, there’s a 40% price cut on a two-pack of Ring Indoor Cams, which we reviewed and rated highly, noting that the unobtrusive cylinder improved over the last iteration with the addition of color night vision and a manual privacy shutter. The 1080p camera is bright and clear, and you can view footage from your phone, a connected Alexa device, and more. A Ring subscription is required to store video in the cloud, but it’s quite affordable as well.

Video Doorbell Deals

We gave an Editors’ Choice award to the exceptional Arlo video doorbell, saying that it was a breeze to install and packed all the features you’d expect from a more expensive unit. The internal battery can be charged through a USB-C port or hard-wired into your house’s electrical system, the wide 180-degree viewing angle gives you tons of coverage over your entryway, and 2K video is nice and sharp. We’ve been reviewing this system and its updates for over 10 years now, and the latest hardware is its best work yet. For a more budget-minded approach to security, this Eufy system will get the job done, especially for apartments and smaller homes. It takes eight AA batteries, which last an estimated eight months before needing to be replaced, and the AI-powered fingerprint detection gets more accurate over time.
