It’s hard to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 no matter where you live in the United States, but if you live in a specific part of Texas, you may be finding it harder than others because thieves stole a big portion of the stock.
Earlier this month, thieves stole 2,810 Nintendo Switch 2 consoles from a semi-truck on its way to a GameStop store in Grapevine, Texas. The theft was reported on the morning of June 8 when the truck stopped in Colorado. This must have been a restock of the Switch 2 as it originally went on sale on June 5.
The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office shared the news alongside a photograph of the back of the ransacked truck. The driver has said he didn’t know exactly what was in the truck, and it has since been confirmed it was full of pallets of the new games console.

The Nintendo Switch 2 sells for $449.99, and the bundle with Mario Kart World included costs $499.99. That means the value of this robbery was somewhere between $1,250,000 and $1,400,000, depending on how many Mario Kart World bundles were included.
Many retailers have been receiving a 50/50 split between Mario Kart World bundles and the standard version of the console, so it’s likely to be valued somewhere over $1.3 million. The police are looking for information about this robbery and they’re asking anyone with information to share tips to 720-874-8477.
