The hit battle royale Call of Duty Warzone’s experiment on mobile is ending. Publisher Activision has announced it’s taking the first steps to sunset the mobile version of Warzone after it fell below the company’s expectations, and your chance to play it may have been and gone.
The game’s servers will remain live for the foreseeable future, but the game is being removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store at some stage on May 19. Activision said it would be removed by the end of May 18, but at the time of writing PCMag was still able to download the game.
Activision took to social media platform X to confirm it would be ending updates to the mobile version of the game. Activision says, “This decision was made after careful consideration of various factors and while we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”
This Tweet is currently unavailable. It might be loading or has been removed.
Those who have the game already downloaded to a device can continue playing. The company has yet to announce when servers will stop working, but without updates or bug fixes for the game, it may mean the company plans to turn the game off later this year. All Activision will say right now is it will “notify players of any changes.”
You can no longer buy in-game currency, and those who have leftover COD Points are encouraged by Activision to spend it on content. There’s no way to get a refund.

It’s been a tough week for lovers of battle royale games on mobile. Fortnite remains down across all iOS devices worldwide after the return of the game to the US App Store was blocked by Apple. Epic Games has said it will keep its servers down around the world until Apple unblocks its new version of the game.
