The Pixel 10 is expected later this year, and we’re already hearing some big news about how it will stand out from previous Google Pixel phones. The Pixel 10 could ship with the Tensor G5 chip and include better fingerprint sensor technology.
When Will the Google Pixel 10 Be Released?
Google makes a new phone every year. The Pixel 9 arrived last August, so the Pixel 10 release date won’t be until later this year. However, we might already know the codenames for this lineup.
A Reddit post claims that four models matching the Pixel 9 naming scheme are coming, each featuring a horse-inspired codename. According to the leak, the standard Pixel 10 is referred to as “Frankel,” while the Pixel 10 Pro is codenamed “Blazer.” The larger Pixel 10 Pro XL carries the name “Mustang,” and the foldable Pixel 10 Pro Fold is reportedly called “Rango.”
The company will likely announce the next Pixel smartphone and allow pre-ordering at the Made by Google event on August 20, with availability about a week later.
Lifewire’s Release Date Estimate
The Google Pixel 10 might be available around August 28, 2025.
Google Pixel 10 Price Rumors
There’s no concrete information on Pixel 10 pricing yet, but it’ll probably start at the same price as the Pixel 9. Assuming Google mimics the current range, this is how much the Pixel 10 could cost:
- Pixel 10 – $799
- Pixel 10 Pro – $999
- Pixel 10 Pro XL – $1,099
- Pixel 10 Pro Fold – $1,799
Of course, this is pure speculation. Google might adjust pricing based on market trends, hardware, and competitor offerings.
Pre-Order Information
Pixel 10 pre-orders are unavailable this far out. Typically, Google opens pre-orders a couple of weeks before the official release date, so you should be able to pre-order one at the August 20 event. The specifics will be known as that time approaches.
Google Pixel 10 Specs and Features
This is the list of features and changes we’re expecting from the Pixel 10:
- Next-Gen Tensor Chip: Google might introduce the TSMC-made Tensor G5 chip with the Pixel 10. This processor could bring significant improvements in performance, battery efficiency, and AI capabilities. Compared to Samsung’s 3nm process, TSMC’s reportedly delivers 10-20 percent higher performance.
- Bigger Battery: The Pixel 10 Pro XL might have the largest battery yet in a Pixel. The rumor mill says it will sport a 5,200mAh battery, up from the 5,060mAh battery in the Pixel 9 equivalent.
- Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor: The latest Pixel phones have an optical fingerprint sensor. We hope Google will improve this by adding an ultrasonic sensor to the Pixel 10, like the one used in the Galaxy S24 and other top smartphones. An ultrasonic sensor uses sound waves to create a 3D map of your finger (as opposed to light to make a 2D image), making it faster and more secure than an optical sensor.
- Camera Enhancements: Pixels are known for their exceptional cameras, and the Pixel 10 is expected to continue that trend. If the physical cameras themselves aren’t upgraded, Android 16 will surely provide some software-based improvements.
- Machine Learning: Google is expected to integrate even more machine learning features into the Pixel 10. These upgrades could include smarter object recognition for photos, improved voice commands, and more personalized user experiences.
- More Storage: Aside from the latest Fold, the current Pixels start with 128 GB of storage, but only the Pro models include options greater than 256 GB. We’d like to see some changes: 256 GB as the starting storage for all models and 512 GB as an option for the standard Pixel 10. The Pixel 9 bumped the RAM in the standard model from 8 GB to 12 GB, and the Pro models from 12 GB to 16 GB, so that probably won’t change this year.
- Same Screen Size: These phones will likely retain their screen sizes: 6.3 inches for the Pixel 10 and 10 Pro, and 6.8 inches for the Pro XL.
