At WWDC 2025, Apple announced a raft of new Apple Music features that I’m genuinely excited for. So, whether you’re a loyal Apple Music user or not, these new features are certainly worth making the switch for.
Apple Announces New Apple Music Features
During its June 9, 2025, WWDC keynote, Apple announced the new major versions of its operating systems, slated to arrive later in the year. But the keynote wasn’t just about operating systems. Apple also unveiled new features for its services, including Apple Music, which is receiving four new features.
1. Lyrics Translation
One of the most impressive new Apple Music features is Lyrics Translation. They say music is a universal language, and as someone who listens to a wide variety of genres from all over the world and in different languages, I can’t wait to give it a go. Whether I’m listening to K-pop, reggaeton, or Congolese rhumba with a sprinkle of French and local languages, the language barrier has always limited how deeply I can connect with the songs.
I often have to search for lyric translations online, which has always been hit or miss. With Lyrics Translation, Apple Music offers real-time translations directly within the lyrics view. What makes this feature even better is its seamless integration into the service. As the song plays, you can follow along with both the original lyrics and their translation, line by line.
According to Apple, Lyrics Translation uses machine learning with additional fine-tuning to ensure that emotion, cultural context, and lyrical intent are preserved. I’ve tried using translation tools to translate lyrics, but they often fail to capture the context or intent accurately. I know this because I’m trilingual, and I often find that lyric translations between the three languages are either inaccurate, awkward, or lacking in nuance.
2. Lyrics Pronunciation
Another new feature coming to Apple Music that I’m excited to try is Lyrics Pronunciation. While translation helps you understand the meaning, pronunciation goes a step further by helping you say the words correctly.
If you love singing along but often find yourself mumbling through foreign-language lyrics or mispronouncing your favorite chorus, Lyrics Pronunciation is a godsend. It’s especially helpful for those with multilingual music tastes like mine, making it easy to follow along and sing with confidence, even if you don’t speak the language.
That’ll come in handy for popular genres like K-pop, J-pop, and Latin music while I’m in the shower or cleaning on a sunny Saturday morning.
3. AutoMix
As the name suggests, it’s an automated feature that mixes one song into the next, much like a DJ. As you’ve probably guessed, AutoMix utilizes AI to recognize the currently playing song and ensure a seamless transition into the next one.
It sounds similar to Spotify’s AI DJ feature, but the mechanics are quite different. Instead of just curating a playlist on the go, AutoMix takes it a step further by adding unique, smooth transitions between songs. As such, you can forget about the awkward silences and jarring tempo shifts.

With beat matching and time stretching incorporated into the transitions, AutoMix delivers an actual DJ-like experience. It’s not like you’re playing yet another playlist in your library with crossfade.
4. Music Pins
Another subtle but handy addition to Apple Music is the ability to pin your favorite albums, playlists, or artists to the top of your Library. It’s not as big as the other features, but it’s a practical improvement that makes everyday use more convenient.
If you’re like me, you probably have a few favorites that you listen to regularly, whether it’s a workout mix, a relaxing evening playlist, or everything from a particular artist. Instead of scrolling through Recently Added or digging into Playlists, Artists, Albums, or Songs, you can pin it to the top of your Library and get straight to your favorites once you open the tab.
Apple Music’s New Features Are a Reason to Make the Switch
Apple Music’s newest features aren’t just nice-to-haves—they’re genuine quality-of-life upgrades that enhance how we discover, enjoy, and interact with music. Lyrics Translation and Pronunciation are the perfect pair for anyone who enjoys music in languages they don’t speak. AutoMix is ideal if you’re in the mood for a dynamic listening session that flows seamlessly from track to track.
Even as a devoted Spotify user who jumps onto Apple Music once in a while to enjoy the best of the other side, I’m a fan of the new additions.
Could these features finally make me switch for good? It’s anyone’s guess for now.

Apple Music’s new features reflect a thoughtful shift toward a more globally aware and user-centric listening experience. But as exciting as these new features are, they aren’t available just yet. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long as Apple plans to roll them out this fall alongside iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, and watchOS 26.
