Byte-Sized Brief
- Record mode captures and summarizes audio.
- It’s only for ChatGPT Team users on macOS right now.
- Workspace administrators can turn it off for the team.
Today, OpenAI announced some new business-centric features for ChatGPT pro-level customers, including “connectors” with third-party storage platforms like Google Drive and Dropbox, and a new record mode which offers automatic meeting recordings (up to 120 minutes) and transcriptions with a tap of a button. Users can produce editable summaries for emails or other documents to share, and the information becomes a part of the Team workspace’s internal knowledgebase.
For now, this feature has rolled out to ChatGPT Team users operating the macOS desktop app, but Enterprise, Edu, Pro, and Plus users will have access in the future. By default, OpenAI says that recordings and transcripts won’t be included in model training, and audio files will be deleted automatically once transcription’s complete. But, if you’re concerned about privacy, team administrators can disable this recording feature altogether from Workspace Controls.
The Bottom Line
ChatGPT record mode is a time-saving productivity tool aimed at team and other paying users, and joins the likes of similar meeting summary tools from competitors. It’s on by default, but can be turned off at the workspace level.
