Byte-Sized Brief
- Google Photos is 10 years old.
- It’s AI-powered editor arrives this summer.
- QR codes simplify album sharing.
The Google Photos app is officially a decade old, and the brand is celebrating with a revamped editor that places all your favorite tools in one toolbox. That means calling on AI to apply various effects or recommend suggestions for edits to certain areas of a photo. The reimagined editor also houses go-to settings for brightness and contrast, and powerful tools like Reimagine and Auto frame for creative embellishments and expert cropping.
Google’s also adding QR codes for instant album sharing. Rather than bothering with links or sharing permissions, you can create a QR code for others to scan to view and add to albums. QR code sharing is rolling out now, and the new editor will be available worldwide on Android devices starting in July. For iPhone users, these changes take effect later in 2025.
The Bottom Line
You’ll soon be able to tap into more AI-powered editing in Google photos, and when your pictures are ready, you can easily share them using a QR code.
