Can Android Stream to Fire TV Sticks?
Android smartphones and tablets can stream or cast to Amazon’s Fire TV Stick devices. Before Fire Sticks can receive a wireless broadcast from your Android device, you need to set them up properly.
Here’s how to prepare a Fire TV Stick for Android casting.
Turn your Amazon Fire TV Stick on as usual and then press the Home button on the remote until a menu appears.
Highlight Mirroring.
Press Enter on the Fire Stick remote to activate the Mirroring option.
The “Enter” button is the large circular button on the remote.
The screen should now change and your Fire Stick is now primed and ready to receive a wireless casting signal.
How to Cast to Amazon Fire TV Stick From Android
The process for casting to an Amazon Fire TV Stick from Android varies depending on the device and Android version. Overall, the steps aren’t too different, though, and should look something like the following, with maybe just a few visual changes here and there.
Ensure that your Android smartphone or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the Fire Stick.
Open Settings and select Connected devices.
Select Cast. If your Fire TV Stick is visible on the list of devices, tap it to begin casting. If it’s not, select the ellipsis icon in the top-right corner (on some phones).
Pixel phones work a little differently. We’ve got those directions at the bottom of this page.
Check the box next to Enable wireless display to make additional devices, like the Amazon Fire TV Stick, visible in the Cast list.
If you ever have trouble finding your Fire Stick when casting, repeat this step to make it visible again.
Select the name of your Fire TV Stick.
Your Android mobile device should now have its screen mirrored on your Fire TV on your TV. To end the casting session, tap the Fire TV Stick’s name from the Cast menu once again.
Can You Cast to a Fire Stick From Samsung Phones?
The method for casting to a Fire Stick from a Samsung device is slightly different than the normal Android process as it uses Samsung’s Smart View casting technology.
Make sure your Samsung device and your Fire TV Stick are on the same Wi-Fi network.
Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notifications bar.
Swipe left until you see the Smart View icon, and then tap it.
Select your Fire TV Stick from the list of devices.
If you don’t see your Fire TV Stick from the list of available displays, try using the above steps for regular Android devices. The Fire TV may be hidden.
Your Samsung device’s screen should now be mirrored on your TV via your Amazon Fire TV Stick. To stop the mirroring, tap your Fire TV’s name from the Smart View list again.
How to Cast to a Fire Stick From a Google Pixel
Pixel phones can cast the screen to a Fire TV Stick, too, but not by default. The third-party app AirScreen is an easy workaround that’s free to try. Follow these steps if you don’t see your TV in the list of devices to cast the screen to after following the general directions above:
Search for AirScreen and install it on your Fire Stick.
Open the app and give it a minute to set itself up.
On your phone, open Settings and navigate to Connected devices > Connection preferences > Cast.
Tap the AirScreen device—it should start with AS—to begin mirroring the screen on the Fire Stick.
