Apple Is Changing Everything From iPhones to Macs. You Ready?

Byte-Sized Brief

  • Apple is redesigning iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more.
  • A new look and smarter features are coming this fall.
  • You’ll notice big changes across all your devices.

Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) started today. This is usually when Apple introduces changes to its software applications and shares some of its plans for what’s to come over the next few months. This year brought confirmation of a new naming system for all Apple platforms—platform names will now represent the year they were released in—as well as some interesting new designs for how those operating systems work.

The most important takeaway from the hour-and-a-half-long keynote presentation is that Apple is changing the way you work with iOS, iPadOS, TVOS, macOS, watchOS, and VisionOS. This includes a new “more fluid” look and feel (inspired by VisionOS, as many have said), as well as new features like Windows on the iPad, new CarPlay capabilities, background in Messages, more Apple intelligence, and Live translation. None of the new features will be available until the fall, though, so you have time to prepare yourself for the changes that are coming.

The Bottom Line

Big changes are coming to the way your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and other Apple products operate when the next platform versions are released in the fall. Some of them have the potential to completely change the way you use those devices.
