America’s Sweethearts, The Waterfront: What’s New to Watch on Netflix the Week of June 13, 2025

Every week, Netflix drops a bunch of new content for viewers to stream from TV and movie studios all over the world. Watching all of it would take you a ton of time, so I decided to start my Friday by recommending three top picks for the weekend and week to come. Schedule your viewing around these shows and movies, and I’ll be watching along with you. This time around, we’ve got the third season of a South African crime hit, live magic from Netflix’s favorite illusionist, and more. The full list is below.

This Week on Netflix: PCMag’s Picks

Kings of Jo’Burg: Season 3 (June 13)

Netflix has a lot of international shows to keep track of, but one that’s proven quite successful without a lot of media coverage is Kings of Jo’Burg, a gritty crime series about the Masire family’s struggle to hold on to territory in South Africa after their patriarch vanishes. The behind-the-scenes story is almost as fascinating, with creator and star Shona Ferguson passing away from COVID-19 after the first season and his widow and filmmaking partner continuing the story. Check it out this weekend.

The Last Witch Hunter (June 16)

There’s something just so charming about Vin Diesel in fantasy movies, and 2015’s The Last Witch Hunter, while not a masterpiece by any means, has enough charm to carry it through, especially when you learn it was based on the star’s Dungeons & Dragons campaign. Diesel plays Kaulder, a cursed immortal knight who is tasked with keeping rogue witches in line and hidden from the general populace. Dumb, goofy fun.

Justin Willman: Magic Lover (June 17)

Netflix’s partnership with illusionist Justin Willman has led to several successful shows like Magic For Humans, and his latest project is a recording of a live special, called Magic Lover. Previews make it look like an absolute riot, with impressive mentalism paired with incisive stand-up to create a live experience like no other. Watch it a few times to see if you can figure out his tricks.

  • Cast: Justin Willman

  • Genres: Magic

  • Rating: TV-MA
