Whether you subscribe to them individually or as part of a bundle deal, Disney+ and Hulu both have a lot to offer streaming fans. Disney has the ultra-popular Marvel and Star Wars franchises, while Hulu brings the heat with tons of original shows and movies from around the world, coupled with American TV shows from network partners. There’s a lot to watch, with new stuff added every day, so I picked out the three best choices for the weekend and the week ahead. The first of the month always drops a bunch of movies, but we also have Chinese animation, crime documentaries, and more. F*ck Marry Kill (June 27/Hulu)

You’re taking your life in your hands whenever you open a dating app, but 2024 horror comedy F*ck Marry Kill means it literally. Lucy Hale stars as a young woman who loves true-crime podcasts, but when the mysterious Swipe Right Killer targets her, she needs to figure out which of her prospective matches has an interest in violence that he didn’t put on his profile. It’s not spectacular, but good dumb fun for a Friday night.

Boonie Bears: Time Twist (June 30/Hulu)

You might not have heard of Boonie Bears yet, but give it time. This is the most popular animated franchise in China, with a staggering 12 separate TV series and 10 feature films since debuting in 2012. Time Twist is the latest installment, in which series antagonist Vick the logger travels back in time to the start of his career to try and do it right this time. Charming animation and goofy gags make this a solid family pick.

Who Is Luigi Mangione? (July 3/Hulu)

Investigation Discovery is one of Hulu’s many partner networks, and it’s made a reputation for itself by packaging breaking news stories into easy-to-digest TV specials. Luigi Mangione’s alleged assassination of health insurance CEO Brian Thompson might be a tipping point for American capitalism, as for the first time in recent memory, a sizable portion of the population has a sympathetic view of an alleged murderer. This special digs deep into Mangione’s history, friendships, social media, and more to paint a picture of the accused man’s mind.
