PowerPoint templates are an excellent tool for introducing a new unit or reviewing for a test with your students. They offer a break from the routine, and students enjoy the teamwork and competition.

I’ve also used these templates with friends by replacing the questions and answers with familiar topics. We can play in person or over a video call.

Jeopardy is one of the most popular PowerPoint games for classroom use. It’s excellent for test review or introducing new material, and can be played as a class, in teams, or individually on computers.

What We Like

  • Comes with great instructions for setup.

  • Realistic looking graphics.

  • Website has handy instructional video for help.

  • Cool animation.

What We Don’t Like

  • Setup is pretty involved.

  • Doesn’t automatically figure dollar amounts.

  • Can load only 12 puzzles.

Spin the wheel, use your own puzzles, and track scores with this Wheel of Fortune PowerPoint template, reminiscent of the actual game. It is available in the PPTM format.

What We Like

  • Can encourage and be used with teams of students.

  • Great graphics resembling the TV gameshow.

  • Realistic sound effects from the gameshow.

What We Don’t Like

  • Some are limited to a few slides.

  • Some require quite a bit of customizing.

  • Not much non-English support.

  • Some don’t come in the popular PPTX format.

Another popular free game with teachers and students is Family Feud. Played just like the traditional game, it engages kids of all ages.
