Byte-Sized Brief
- Liquid Glass is coming to all Apple devices this fall.
- It’s a fluid, glass-like interface that changes dynamically.
- It’s Apple’s biggest redesign and the first unifying one.
Liquid Glass, the universal glass-like redesign coming to iPhones, Macs, Apple TV, and more, was the big-ticket item announced at WWDC 2025. It’s the company’s biggest full-scale redesign, and the first to reach every single device category with unifying elements, including rounded corners and transparent layering. From buttons to sliders and system controls, the interface will reflect and refract light and react dynamically (think fluid floating and sliding movements).
Apple says its aim is to simplify, helping you focus on the most important parts of whatever you’re interacting with, and offer more personalization. On the other hand, if you’re not a fan of transparency or dynamic lighting changes to every little toggle and menu, will it all be a little too much? With so many see-through and moving parts, it’s hard to know how readable and streamlined the interface will be in practice. Either way, Liquid Glass looks like it will be the new foundation for every Apple experience.
The Bottom Line
Liquid Glass will come to iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26 this fall. There’s still a lot of time for Apple to pare back on this unifying liquid look and feel across devices, but first looks raise questions about how usable and practical it will actually be.
