People recently reported that a couple who announced their engagement via a QR code disguised as a drink menu went viral on TikTok. It was smart really. According to Morning Consult, 45 percent of Gen Z and Millennials say they’re more likely to engage when an interactive element (like a QR code) is used. Google Trends even points to a greater than 300 percent increase in the number of searches for “QR code wedding invitations.”
So, what does that mean for you? As a consumer, you might want to scan that QR code. It could just be a menu, or there may be something fun behind it. Businesses, too, should consider the value of QR codes and how they can help engage a whole new category of customers. What’s more fun than scanning a QR code to find a little something you didn’t expect?
